SIMONE ROCHA X H&M

With many sold out collaborations under its belt, H&M has now partnered with British brand Simone Rocha. The brand has brought it’s signature romantic feminie fantasy with lots of frills, puffed sleeves, and lace as well as the British classics that are just as much part of the brand such as tartan and tweed. Avoiding the collaboration pitfall of simply sticking the brand name of a t-shirt and collecting a check, Simone Rocha has used this partnership with H&M to not only make their signature tartan trousers and puff-sleeve princess dresses at a price anyone can afford (prices range from accessories starting at $7.99 to coats at $349.99) . It’s a collaboration that could have come straight off a Simone Rocha runway. The brand has even pushed to expand their siding range: EU 34 to 44/46. The collection is complete with everything from shoes, socks, giant pink bows, hair bands decorated with pearls, and voluminous sheer tulle shirts. And it’s not just for women, the brand has expanded its offering spast womenswear for this collab, designing for men and children. It marks the first time Simone Rocha has ventured into clothes for kids but given how adorable the fisherman’s sweaters look on both the girls and boys, and dresses that already lean to the inner princess in everyone are perfect for little girls. There’s white dress shirts with a rim of pearl round the collar, a beige trench with pearl embellishments, joggers, and a version of the tartan trousers for men. Simone Rocha really expanded her offerings while maintaining the signature DNA that the brand has become known for. Rocha has called the collection a tribute to her brand, Ireland, and Hong Kong. While some backlash was received given how H&M has come under fire for being a giant fash fashion company, Rocha has stated that she designed the collection in the “hope[s] that the items in this collection will be worn and treasured for years to come.” These aren’t throw away pieces to be discarded after being worn once; the clothes are meant to become part of someone’s closet for years. And with how beautiful everything looks, that won’t be a hard thing to accomplish. I’m already imagining how many outfits I could make with the tartan trousers alone. Given how fast The Vampire’s Wife x H&M sold out, I would set my alarm for when the collection goes live on March 11th to shop the website or head to the store when it opens.
