DIOR MEN Fall 21
Mr. Kim Jones keeps the ball rolling on his take on Dior menswear enlisting the artist Kenny Scharf, a contemporary of Jean Michel Basquiat in the 80’s East Village scene. Their collaboration is a colorful one full of graffiti-esque characters taking over shirts and the ever popular Dior saddle bag. Belts with Scharf’s work are the cherry on top of Jones' full looks: cinching the waist of a relaxed suit silhouette. The playful accents that are Scharf’s contribution to the partnership is married well with a softening of the designs from Jones, the jackets would not be out of place among robes, albeit very luxurious robes. The bright pink combat boots (is hot pink an emerging menswear trend? Will it move from runway to streetwear?) speak to the doc marten coveting teen in all of us, though I doubt my teenage self had the range of this collection. But it’s the lounge logo loafers that have me looking away from the clothes and wondering if I am a shoe person after all.
