Feature: Venezia FC 22/23 Home Shirt by Kappa + Bureau Borsche

While Venezia FC are well recognized as one of the most modern and innovative clubs in the world of football, the Venetians’ explorations in aesthetics and storytelling have been distinctive for their seamless links and references to the past, an interplay which now truly comes to the fore. As the first entry in one of the most anticipated collections on the calendar, Venezia have released their 22/23 home shirt, which turns back to the 1990s for inspiration and presents an impeccable blend of tradition and modernity, giving a clean contemporary update to the classic look of collared and long-sleeved football shirts.

In collaboration with design studio Bureau Borsche — famed for their work with Balenciaga and Supreme among others — and technical partner Kappa — whose iconic kits and tracksuits reigned supreme in the ‘90s — the 22/23 Venezia home shirt flips vintage football into high fashion.

Borsche’s design achieves a luxury feeling through restraint and purpose. The deep black shirt is elegantly accented with a thin, understated orange-and-green taping that runs along the sleeves and down the sides, which is flawlessly executed by Kappa. The collar, with a single-button closure, perfectly maintains the flow of the shirt’s orange-and-green stripe motif. The shirt is finished with rich gold embellishments — specifically, the new club crest and new Città di Venezia city script.

With Venezia’s team seeming to have anticipated trends in design, the 22/23 Venezia long-sleeved home shirt notably bears some resemblance to Aimé Leon Dore’s ALD / New Balance 991 Long-Sleeve Club Jersey that was released last month in the “Made in UK” campaign featuring Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

The 22/23 Venezia home shirt, in both long-sleeved and short-sleeved versions, is available now on shop.veneziafc.it.
